Founded in 1937 by Donald D. Barner, Buckeye Rubber & Packing Co. (BRP) is a privately held corporation based in Beachwood, Ohio. Since our beginning, our mission has been clear: to help customers solve complex sealing challenges. This commitment has established BRP as a trusted leader in the sealing and gasket industry.
Our first major success came when we partnered with a Cleveland-based landing gear manufacturer to develop a seal that was smaller and lighter—critical for use in military aircraft. To meet the challenge, Barner collaborated with Neils Christensen, a Danish inventor living in Cleveland who had perfected the O-ring and its use in grooved metal housings. Christensen filed for his patent in 1937, and the solution they developed earned high praise from the OEM. Soon after, other aircraft manufacturers began adopting the O-ring, which became a key component in the pre-WWII military aircraft buildup.
More than 80 years later, BRP remains true to its founding values: delivering high-quality products, lasting value, and unmatched customer service across the fluid power industry.
